A Boy and an Idea

December 1, 2017

Here's my final book rec in celebration of Picture Book Month!

The Boy Who Invented TV, , written by Kathleen Krull and illustrated by Greg Couch, is the story of Philo Farnsworth and his fascination with machines.

Philo tinkers a lot, asks questions to anyone who’ll speak with him, and reads magazines about all kinds of mechanics.

He’s still a boy, working in his family’s potato fields when he has an idea for how to break down images and transmit them as electrons. But too poor to attend university, he hopes to someday meet an investor who likes his idea. His new invention, the television, eventually broadcasts in 1927.

This book is sure to inspire young boys and girls to do a little tinkering for themselves!
